Everyone knows that the main attraction at a Super Bowl party (other than the game itself, and maybe the commercials if you also work in marketing like yours truly) is the food. Shareable snacks, appetizers and flavor-packed bites are the foundation of any great Super Bowl party, regardless of whether your team wins or loses.ย

1. For the Bay Area Host, Mission Burrito 7-Layer Dip
Mission Burrito 7-layer dip takes a creative spin on the Bay Areaโs popular Mission Burrito and puts it in 7-layer dip form, a special nod to Leviโs Stadium (where the game is being played) and the Bay! Dips are a great hosting dish because they can feed a lot of people while looking festive on a table, and also adding a menu item that can be enjoyed by guests with dietary restrictions, such as gluten free guests opting for corn chips. Yes, tortilla chips pair perfectly with 7-layer dip, making this an easy-to-grab/easy-to-dip snack throughout the entire game. Or opt for sourdough bruschetta baguette slices as a dipping vessel alternative to really hit home on the Bay Area favorites.

See below for our 7-layer dip recipe ingredients, which we serve in a glass casserole dish with both tortilla chips and sourdough bruschetta baguette slices on the side for dipping. Our recipe includes a few unexpected surprise-and-delights, a twist on traditional 7-layer dip.
- Refried Lentils: Twist on refried beans! Boil the lentils, sautรฉ with olive oil + salt/pepper + cumin + dried Epazote leaves or oregano, blend if desired
- Sour Cream Mixed with Fresh Lime & Taco Seasoning: A sour cream-and fresh-lime-juice-and-fresh-lime-zest-and-taco seasoning mixture creates a creamy, tangy second layer. Make homemade taco seasoning with chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, black pepper, garlic powder, salt, onion powder, & dried oregano.
- Guacamole with finely chopped onions, jalapenos, salt & pepper
- Freshly Grated Cheese: Mix of thick cut freshly grated Monterey Jack and Goat Cheddar (Goat Milk Cheddar-Style Cheese)
- Roasted Salsa: Roasted Roma tomatoes, roasted red onions, roasted garlic, roasted jalapenos, blend but keep it chunky, add cilantro last
- Lettuce: Shredded romaine lettuce
- Final toppings layer: Halved Grape Tomatoes + Green Castelvetrano Olives (pitted, halved longways to be the shape of a football) + Thinly Sliced Green Onions/Scallions
2. For Seattle Seahawks, Coffee Rub Chicken Wings
Coffee lovers, unite! Coffee-rubbed chicken wings are an ode to the Seahawks and Seattleโs coffee capital and coffee-loving community. Any football fan will tell you that wings are a must at a Super Bowl party! Think of these as a unique twist on your classic. Simply make the seasoning blend ahead of time and toss prior to cooking.

One of my top party tricks is placing trash cans with extra bags tucked into the bottom in strategic locations, making it easy for guests to toss their wing bones throughout the party. I love serving chicken wings because theyโre filling, delicious, packed with protein, and they’re versatile for a lot of different flavors, even including coffee, which is a fun nod to the Seahawks. If you donโt have a grill, bake in your oven at 350 until they reach at least 165 degrees F since theyโre bone-in. Have wet wipes handy for guests to use.
Chicken Wing Ingredients: Double this recipe based on the size of your party!
- 24 chicken wings
- 1/3 cup finely-ground coffee beans
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup coconut sugar
- 3 tbsp chili powder
- 2 tbsp chipotle powder
- 1/3 cup smoked paprika
- 2 tbsp garlic powder
- 2 tbsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp freshly ground black pepper
- 3 tbsp kosher salt
- 2 tbsp dried oregano
- 1 ยฝ tbsp ground cumin
- 3 tbsp neutral oil
- 4 tbsp butter, melted
- Chopped parsley (to garnish)
Dip Ingredients:
- Ranch
- Fresh Dill
- Fresh Chives
3. For Boston Patriots, Brioche Bun Lobstah Rolls
Brioche bun lobster roll is a local favorite paying tribute to a staple New England dish and our Patriots fans. You can also sub lobster for shrimp in the filling for a cheaper, at-home option. Lobster rolls are both an elevated and a classic appetizer for our catered events, and I love how they strike the perfect balance between freshness and richness. Itโs an extra special treat to have! Lobster is one of those premium ingredients that can be intimidating to work with if you donโt cook it regularly, but you can easily find lobster tails at your local supermarket and poach them in butter.

Lobster โLobstahโ Rolls have been a staple on the Made by Meg Catering menu for years, and the extra special touch is when you take a brioche bun, cut off the sides, and sautรฉ them in butter for that incredible flavor combo of butter and lobster, finished with chives on top for an extra pop of color. Rolls are an easy handheld option for guests who are going between standing and sitting without a proper table, and part of hosting is doing something special for your guests, which is why people choose dishes like this when they opt for catering!
Lobster Mixture Ingredients:
- Poached lobster (1 oz of Lobster per slider)
- Mayo
- Fresh squeezed lemon juice
- Tarragon
- Green onions
- Old Bay seasoning
Additional Ingredients:
- Brioche buns
- Lobstah mixture
- Microgreens for garnish
- Sliced chives for garnish
- BUTTERย
4. For All Football Fans, Rivalry Touchdown Treat Pops
For a themed dessert, pre-make brown butter and sea salt Rice Krispy treats, a nostalgic yet elevated sweet thatโs fun and easily customizable to highlight the rival Super Bowl teams! Stick your brown butter & sea salt rice crispy treats on popsicle sticks, then drizzle them with melted white chocolate and finish with colored sprinkles for each team (Red + Nautical Blue + Silver for the Patriots verses Blue + Lime Green + Silver for the Seahawks). These sweet treats are easy to customize with your teamโs colors, whether youโre rooting for the Seahawks, Patriots, or neither team playing! (GO RAMS!)

The trick to a perfect brown butter is to melt your butter on the stove at low heat and wait for the milk solids to change to golden brown, as this changes the flavor of your butter to be nuttier. We enjoy the flavor combo of salty with sweet, and thatโs why we add-in a pinch of Maldon salt. If you have children helping you in the kitchen as you prepare for hosting, I love Rice Krispy Treats because itโs an easy and safe thing that kids can assist with. The Super Bowl is also a big holiday for families, and kids want to jump in and help at a young age, especially when it involves something sweet.
Ingredients:
- Unsalted Butter
- Maldon Salt
- Mini Marshmallows
- Rice Krispies Cereal (regular or chocolate)
- White Chocolate Chips
- Coconut Oil
- Colored Sprinkles
- Vanilla Extract
Instructions:
- In a large pot, melt butter over low heat. It will melt, then foam, then turn golden and finally start to turn brown and smell nutty. Add vanilla extract to the butter mixture while itโs browning. Watch closely and stir often.
- When butter is evenly browned, stir in marshmallows. Stir in salt. Melt and cook, stirring often, until mixture turns pale brown, then stir constantly until lightly browned but not dark, 3 to 5 minutes.
- Turn off heat, add cereal, and mix well, preferably with a silicone spoon.
- Scrape into a rimmed sheet pan with parchment paper with butter and press down lightly. If necessary, butter hands to press mixture flat.
- Let cool, and use a cookie cutter to cut into football shapes.
- Melt white chocolate: In a microwavable bowl, melt 1 cup of white chocolate chips with a 1/2 teaspoon of coconut oil. Melt in 30 second intervals until melted, stirring as you go.
- Drizzle the top with melted white chocolate and sprinkles and let it sit for 30-60 minutes before serving.
- Enjoy!ย
