The Cheese & Charcuterie Wreath

The holidays are here again, and thereโ€™s nothing quite like a festive cheeseboard to elevate your gatherings and events. Transforming it from a board into a wreath is a beautiful, easy, and festive visual accomplished with three to four different cheeses, your favorite accompaniments, and plenty of fresh rosemary for the base garnish.

Cheesy: Ensure to include a range of cheese textures for different preferences, such as a spreadable soft cheese and harder cheese that either require a cheese knife or being pre-cut. Ensure you include different knives for each cheese to avoid unintentional flavor mixing, and if you arenโ€™t pre-slicing your harder and semi-soft cheeses, include sharper cheese knives on the board. Include a range of flavors by incorporating different types of animal milk cheeses, with a combination of cow, goat, sheep, and/or plant-based. Our four go-to cheese types include a hard cheese such as Asiago, a smooth and nutty semi-soft cheese like Cypress Grove Midnight Moon with salt crystals, a soft cheese such as Triple Cream St. Andrรฉ Brie or Cypress Groveโ€™s tangy Humboldt Fog, and a fun vegan cheese thatโ€™s flagged and labeled for any lactose intolerant or vegan guests. I use holiday-themed labels for the different cheeses, with toothpicks featuring the cheese names inside an ornament-shaped design.

Savory: For choosing the charcuterie meats, we recommend including two different cured meats, such as thinly sliced prosciutto and thinly sliced fennel salami, both of which are ideal for building an elevated holiday charcuterie board with different looks, textures, and taste profiles. In addition to your savory meats, include something savory, vegetarian, and fermented to help balance your board, such as colorful pre-pitted green Castelvetrano olives.

Crunchy: For the crunch and vehicle to enjoy the meat and cheese, place round crackers (leaning into the circular ornament theme) either throughout your wreath or in the center hole. Include both your fanciest flavored crackers and gluten-free crackers for all guests to be able to pair the cheeses and easily eat, ensuring your holiday entertaining spread is inclusive, elevated, and perfectly suited for your festive gatherings.

Cheeseboard wreaths are as much show as they are flavor, and quickly becomes an all-in-one appetizer smorgasbord that is easy to have pre-set for guests to enjoy upon arrival. Donโ€™t have time to make your own? Contact Made by Meg Catering for our drop-off charcuterie options, ideal whether youโ€™re hosting or attending.

Ingredients:

  • Asiago hard cheese (long triangles)
  • Cypress Grove Midnight Moon semi-soft cheese (long triangles)
  • Triple Cream St. Andrรฉ Brie soft cheese (whole)
  • Vegan cheese of choice
  • Prosciutto, thinly sliced
  • Fennel salami, thinly sliced
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • Green Castelvetrano olives (8-16oz)
  • Round crackers

Serving Items:

  • Holiday-themed cheese labels
  • 2-4 cheese knives
  • Round board or platter

Steps:

  • Prepare the Base: Rinse and gently pat dry the rosemary sprigs. On a large round board, arrange the dry rosemary sprigs in a circle, all facing the same direction, to form the base of your festive wreath.
  • Add the Cheeses: Pre-cut or slice each of the 3 harder cheeses and include a cheese knife for the soft cheese. Space them evenly around the rosemary wreath: your hard cheese (Asiago), semi-soft cheese (Cypress Grove Midnight Moon), soft cheese (Triple Cream St. Andrรฉ Brie or Cypress Grove Humboldt Fog), and your chosen vegan cheese.
  • Layer in the Cured Meats: Fold thin slices of prosciutto and fennel salami into the shape of roses by pinching the bottom and wrapping so the top flares out. Nestle them around the wreath, filling in gaps between the cheese sections.
  • Add Olives for Texture & Color: Place Green Castelvetrano olives in a section that looks offset, such as between 7 oโ€™clock on the wreath for a pop of bright green and added flavor, looking like an ornament on a wreath.
  • Fill the Center With Crackers: Arrange round crackers in the center of the wreath to complete the circular ornament look and create a built-in serving component.
  • Label the Cheeses: Insert holiday-themed cheese labels or ornament-shaped toothpick markers to identify each cheese and add a festive finishing touch.
  • Serve & Enjoy: Place the completed cheese wreath on your table as an all-in-one appetizer centerpiece. Enjoy the variety of flavors and textures with your guests!

Pull-Apart Pesto Cheese Bread

Yummy, shareable, and perfectly red-and-green for the holidays, this sourdough pull-apart bread is filled with butter, pomegranate seeds, green pesto, and cheese both inside and on top for a golden, bubbly crust. Make Ahead Tip: Assemble this pull apart cheese bread together a day ahead of time and keep it covered in the fridge until ready to bake.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Large Round Loaf of Unsliced Sourdough Bread
  • 8 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • ยฝ head of minced garlic or 10 cloves
  • 1 cups freshly grated Fontina cheese
  • 3/4 cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 Tablespoons fresh chopped parsley
  • 1/4 cups pomegranate seeds
  • 1 cup green pesto drizzle (make fresh or buy a pre-made tub)
  • Non-stick spray

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 375ยฐF / 190ยฐC
  • Use a sharp, serrated knife to cut the loaf of bread diagonally into 1-inch slices, making sure not to cut all the way through to the bottom. Then, turn the loaf a quarter turn and slice again to create a diamond grid pattern.
  • Measure individual ingredients into oven-safe ramekins
  • Melt the butter and add minced garlic in a small saucepan
  • Mix the grated Fontina and Parmesan cheeses together
  • Spray non-stick oil on the foil, then place the loaf on a piece of foil on a baking sheet.
  • Use a pastry brush to coat the inside of the bread slices with the melted garlic butter, stuffing the cracks with pesto, shredded cheese, and chopped parsley.
  • Wrap the loaf in foil and place it on a baking sheet.
  • Bake the loaf for 30 minutes, unwrap the top of the loaf, add the remaining cheese on top, turn the oven to broil, and bake for an additional 5 minutes.
  • For a final garnish, sprinkle with freshly chopped parsley and pomegranate seeds, and serve immediately.

Wine-Whipped Goat Cheese Santa Hat

For a unique and festive dip, whip goat cheese into a fun holiday shape, such as a Santa hat, and decorate it with pomegranate seeds and slivered almonds! Spike with just a splash of wine for flavor, and be careful not to add too much wine, as this will make your goat cheese liquidy and more of a yogurt consistency.

Ingredients:

  • Red Goat Cheese Base
    • 2โ€“3 logs of chรจvre goat cheese
    • Salt, to taste
    • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
    • Splash of either pomegranate juice or Zinfandel red wine (for color and flavor; used in the red portion of the Santa hat)
  • White Goat Cheese Mixture
    • 1 log of chรจvre goat cheese
    • Splash of Viognier or Chardonnay white wine (for the white sections of the hat)
  • Toppings & Decorations
    • Pomegranate seeds (for the red portion of the Santa hat)
    • Slivered almonds (for the white band and pom-pom)
  • Raincoast Crisps artisan square crackers

Steps:

  • Prepare the Red Goat Cheese Mixture: In the bowl of a standing mixer, add 2โ€“3 logs of tangy chรจvre goat cheese along with a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper. Add a splash of either pomegranate juice or Zinfandel red wine for color and flavor to be used in the red portion of Santaโ€™s hat.
  • Whip Until Smooth: Using the paddle or whisk attachment, whip the mixture until it becomes smooth, fluffy, and fully combined. Scrape down the sides as needed.
  • Create the White Cheese Batch: Repeat steps 1 & 2 for the White Goat Cheese Mixture to be used as a second batch for the white portions; whip additional chรจvre with a splash of Viognier or Chardonnay. Use this mixture to define or brighten the almond-covered sections before adding the toppings.
  • Shape the Santa Hat: Transfer the whipped goat cheese mixture onto a serving platter or large round wooden board. Use a spatula or clean hands to shape it into a classic Santa hat, triangular with a rounded top.
  • Decorate the Red Portion: Gently press pomegranate seeds into the main section of the hat, covering it completely to create the festive red color.
  • Make the White Band and Pom-Pom: Press slivered almonds along the bottom edge of the hat to form the white trim. Add more almonds to the rounded tip to create the hatโ€™s pom-pom.
  • Chill & Serve: Refrigerate the Santa hat cheese dip for at least 20โ€“30 minutes to help it firm up. Serve with Raincoast Crisps artisan square crackers and enjoy!

Sweet Potato Manchego Jewels

For a healthy pop of color, these sliced sweet potato bites topped with Manchego and finished with red & green touches (pomegranate jewels & pistachios) are both festive and delicious hors d’oeuvres, especially great for gluten-free guests.

Ingredients:

  • 4 orange-flesh sweet potatoes, sliced into rounds
  • ยผ cup of olive oil, for brushing or drizzling
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 block of Manchego sheepโ€™s cheese, thinly sliced with a vegetable peeler
  • ยฝ cup of Pomegranate seeds
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
  • 3 tablespoons Honey
  • 3 tablespoons Zaโ€™atar seasoning
  • 3 tablespoons Crushed pistachios

Steps:

  • Wash, peel, then sliced sweet potatoes into round bite-sized ยฝโ€ tall coins
  • Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper, and Zaโ€™atar seasoning
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and non-stick spray, and put into oven at 350ยฐF
  • Roast 20-35 minutes until fork-tender and golden
  • Place thinly sliced cheese on top of the sweet potato rounds
  • Place back in the oven 3-5 minutes until Manchego cheese is melted & a bubbling golden brown
  • Very last, top with fresh lemon juice, honey drizzle, crushed pistachios, and pomegranate seeds
  • Plate on individual mini white ceramic casserole skillets or teardrop spoons. Depending on the height of your vessel, you can stack 2-3 sweet potato rounds to make it filled to the top while still being the perfect bite. Finish with a tooth pick or miniature fork.
  • Place the miniature skillets on a larger wooden board for guests to pick up and enjoy!

Pomegranate Mint Sparkler Mocktail with Infused Ice Cubes

This mocktail can easily be transformed into the cocktail version by adding a spirit such as rum to make it a festive take on a Mojito, or vodka to make it a festive take on a Moscow Mule. For an easy hosting hack, prepare the pomegranate juice, mint syrup, and lime juice as a pre-batched mixture poured in a large glass swing top bottle and have it placed on your bar or bar cart with printed instructions to add ice, ginger beer, and sparkling water; this allows guests to easily mix themselves a specialty drink upon arrival, taking one more thing off your plate as host!

People still love unique ice cubes and food styling. Pre-make clear square ice cubes in a silicone ice cube tray with your choice of frozen berries or fruit seeds (such as pomegranate) and fresh herbs (such as fresh mint leaves) inside, and use them in holiday cocktails or mocktails for a luxe look.

  • Ingredients:
    • Pomegranate Juice
    • MBM Mint Syrup (made with fresh mint leaves, cane sugar, and water)
    • Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
    • Ginger Beer (we love Bundaberg Ginger Beer)
    • Sparkling Water
    • Ice Cubes Infused with Pomegranate Seeds and Fresh Mint Leaves
  • Instructions:
    • In advance, prepare square ice cubes in a silicone ice cube tray by first adding washed mint leaves to the bottom of the tray, then sprinkle pomegranates, then fill to the top with filtered water, then freeze until solid.
    • Combine Pomegranate Juice, MBM Mint Syrup, & Lime Juice in a shaker with regular ice
    • Shake contents together and strain over infused ice cubes in ribbed highball 12oz glassware.
    • Add ginger beer
    • Finish with sparking water
    • Stir and enjoy!

Happy Holiday Hosting!

You might have noticed that the majority of these items either included pomegranate or cheese, and yes, that was intentional. We love having show-stopper drinks with appetizer pairings to tie a theme together. A signature drink with visual flair paired with matching bites (such as the above mini hors dโ€™oeuvres) that guests can pick up is a simple “Hostingcore” party trick that makes your shopping list easier while simultaneously impressing your guests.

Hereโ€™s to a happy (and cheese-filled) holiday season! We hope you enjoyed learning more about 2025โ€™s holiday food trends, stylish entertaining strategies, and catering insights for the hosts who want their events to be both memorable and Instagrammable.

Must-Haves from California Wedding Day Magazineโ€™s Winter Solstice Party

December 2nd, 2025, from 4pm-7pm

The established publication California Wedding Day welcomed leading Los Angeles wedding professionals and ticket holders to the iconic Hummingbird Nest Ranch for a celebration debuting the new Spring/Summer 2026 issue of their wedding magazine. The event featured a luxe Winter Solstice theme, transforming the venue with rich seasonal details and immersive styling everywhere you looked.

After being awarded Best Caterer in Los Angeles 2025 from California Wedding Day following multiple rounds of voting earlier this year, we were honored when the California Wedding Day events team reached out to us to cater their Winter Solstice Magazine Release Party!

Guests embraced the chic red-hued cocktail attire dress code, while channeling Old-Hollywood glamour inspired by Selena Gomez and Benny Blancoโ€™s much-talked-about wedding aesthetic earlier this year. The bold, romantic deep red & gold color palette paired seamlessly with the Hummingbird Nest Ranchโ€™s European-inspired architecture and its picturesque garden courtyards in Santa Susana, CA.

At the venue, Premiere Party Rents built out a temporary kitchen for Made by Meg Cateringโ€™s culinary team to prepare and cook the food fresh on-site. Made by Meg Cateringโ€™s team of professional servers tray-passed appetizers to attendees in both the Sitting Bull cobblestone reception area and by the outdoor pool of the private estate event venue, along with their bartenders and two different themed bars for guests to enjoy.

Handheld Party
Hors d’oeuvres

For tray passed hors d’oeuvres for the cocktail-style reception, a curated menu of fan-favorite savory bites for chillier nights was selected, ensuring all major allergy and dietary restriction groups were catered towards. When youโ€™re hosting an event, you want to guarantee all of your guests are able to find something to eat that theyโ€™ll genuinely enjoy.

  • Spicy Tuna & Sweet Miso on Crispy Rice
  • Mini Sirloin Sliders on Brioche
  • Brie & Blackberry Grilled Cheese Sandy
  • Buffalo Cauliflower with Ranch
  • Waldorf Flatbreads
  • Brie, Cranberry & White Chocolate Pillows

Festive Drink Ideas

When your goal is delicious drinks to serve at outdoor events for chilly fall and winter nights, you bring in the experts. We leaned into themes that make you feel cozy with a touch of childhood nostalgia and whimsy, incorporating ingredients such as real apple cider (not to be confused with apple juice) and marshmallow. To further tie in the seasonal fall and winter colors of both red and gold, we opted for drinks that could be a statement and a piece of the color themed decor.

  • Santaโ€™s Best Helper (Red Cocktail): Vodka, Strawberry Puree, Cranberry Juice, and MBM Vanilla Syrup, Fresh Cranberries, Rosemary, and Marshmallow
  • The Winter Solstice (Golden Mocktail): Apple Cider, MBM Cinnamon Syrup, Fresh Lemon Juice, and Ginger Ale, Garnished with Dehydrated Apple Slice
  • Red Wine: Ancient Peaks Renegade Red Blend
  • Rosรฉ Wine: One Stone Cellars Rosรฉ of Pinot Noir
  • Cider: Golden State Hard Cider Brut
  • Beer: Modelo Especial
  • Soft Bar: Coca Cola, Sprite, Diet Coke, and Sparkling Water
  • Refreshing Beverages: Infused Lemon Mint Water and Bottled Water

Inspirational Winter Soirรฉe Details

Bar Signage: Our favorite local acrylic sign creator (Kimi from The Kimi Collective in Torrance, who happens to be a phenomenal dancer) created the red themed bar menus for both of our bar areas. We love the trend of customized signage to match event themes, as this extra thoughtfulness and attention to detail adds another beautiful touch of an eventโ€™s theme.

Welcome Rosรฉ: Upon entering the courtyard, guests were greeted by Made by Meg Catering servers with hand-passed Premiere Rents coup glasses filled with One Stone Cellars Rosรฉ, also displayed on golden bookshelves.

Candles: Sand and glass candles by Luxury Candles California lined the entryway and were spread out among the different areas for guests to enjoy, adding a romantic vibe to the event space. They offer both elevated electric LED candles and real flame sustainable plant-based wax candles based on the venue flame requirements.

Tower of Berries: In addition to Sugar Lab Bake Shopโ€™s treats on the dessert table, the star was the silver coup tower of fresh berries created by the Events by Fran team, a sweet twist on the trend of champagne towers. This provided a fresh, easy-to-enjoy, gluten-free option for guests, while incorporating another touch of red.

Cobblestone Courtyard Table Decor: Tying into the theme, the table settings included wireless gold table lights, gold accented plates, red velvet ribbons, acrylic menus by The Kimi Collective on each place setting, and simple elegant red florals in glass vases.

Outdoor Pool Area Decor: To ensure the venue had a different feel for golden hour, lighter florals and rentals were incorporated for the outdoor pool cocktail hour reception.

Activity: As a personalized activation for guests to take home, Shescloudy Calligraphy created custom gold leaf calligraphy luggage tags, with some guests opting for their names with others choosing inspirational words such as Adventure.

Timeless Meets Modern: For a planner’s prescriptive, Events By Fran envisioned a glamorous, fun vibe, blending timeless Old Hollywood elegance with a modern flair for an unforgettable, sophisticated event. By focusing on dramatic decor, such as the main entrance walkway with sand candles, plush fabrics velvet and satin, modern lighting, and texture signages (red acrylic bar sign, dinner menus, place cards), along with modern jazz music, classic cocktails, and iconic fashion (pearls, gowns, tailored looks), these touches were able to create an cinematic experience that felt both luxurious and fresh.

โ€œI wanted to elevate this evening to be an unforgettable and sophisticated event, focusing on the beautiful venue and ambience of Hummingbird Nest Ranch. By incorporating different types of lighting and shades of red, black, ivory, and glass textures.โ€ – Planner Fran Steiner

4 Theme Ideas for Office Holiday Events

The holidays will soon be upon us. Some argue that the arrival of Labor Day officially ushers in our nationโ€™s extended holiday season, while others view the transition of summer to fall as the more legitimate signaling of festivities to come. But for most, when Halloween night gives way to November 1st, the matter is firmly decidedโ€”holiday spirit is in full swing.

And with the arrival of the holidays, company gatherings are not far behind, which is a great reason to keep these themed corporate holiday event ideas in mind. Far too many company parties fall victim to the โ€œmandatory funโ€ label, typically as a result of poor execution, an absence of imagination, or (most commonly) lackluster cuisine.

Take a few cues from these theme ideas for corporate holiday events and ensure your companyโ€™s party is well received by the staff you hope to please.

office holiday party theme ideas#1. Lights of the Holidays

The holiday season is a widely cherished time of year, if for no other reason than for the festive and often breathtaking lights in which neighborhood blocks, shopping plazas, and town centers become gloriously awash by late-fall.ย  Importing elements of this annual phenomenon into your corporate party will make for a gathering both classy and perfectly aligned with the season. Give your overhead bulbs a night off, and replace them with pleasant candle lighting.

Regardless of how your festively illuminated party comes together, the food should be first-rate across the board. Holiday cheese displays are always ideal starters for festive parties, while herb butter turkey accompanied by a side of white cheddar mashed potatoes will make for an excellent entrรฉe. Both blend seamlessly with holiday lighting schemes.

#2. Film-Centric

Everybody has a favorite holiday film. Building your party around a โ€œNight at the Moviesโ€ theme will be immediately popular. Trivia activities and re-enactment games are easy to arrange and a great way to garner high participation among your audience. You might also consider having an iconic seasonal film playing via projector while the gathering is underway. Thereโ€™s no shortage of classics on that front.

Another way to enrich the atmosphere is with a creatively arranged tapas bar. Well-conceived tapas spreads consist of savory cheeses, quality meat offerings, artichoke kebabs, and a good deal more. As convenient finger food, tapas are particularly ideal for what will likely amount to an active and lighthearted affair. Involve an excellent caterer in the planning of your film-focused party with the aim of generating a fitting menu.

#3. Costumed Gathering

Although Halloween takes the spotlight as the holiday for costumed events, there is no legislation (that I know of) prohibiting the wearing of costumes after October 31st. Attendees will arrive ready to celebrate the holiday spirit, and themes of this sort lend themselves easily to contests: Best Costume, Most Unique Costume, Funniest Costume, and so on. If you would like to keep with the holiday spirit, consider a Santa/Elves sub-theme.

Costume assembly is time-consuming and parties mandating them can be overwhelming for some. Make sure to provide a hearty, delightful cuisine for the participants and guests, or risk a costumed revolt. Baked ham with a cranberry sauce side always makes for a delicious dinner entrรฉe, particularly when it is prepared by a uniquely gifted catering professional who understands the importance of serving deliciousย food at events.

office holiday party theme ideas#4. Wintry Landscape

Although Southern California doesnโ€™t see the type of weather thatโ€™s traditionally associated with winter, holiday parties are the perfect opportunity to create a festive ambiance. Capturing late-fall and early-winter seasonal elements (think: snow, woodland creatures, holly berries) is central to holiday imagery and is also ideal for the enriching or your corporate office party. Couple a creative blue/white lighting scheme with white backdrops and a few winter-specific props. A seasonal musical track will provide the perfect touch to achieve your desired wintery aesthetics.

In keeping with the seasonally rich experience, your menu should be designed with comfort foods and cuisine uniquely associated with colder climes and alpine environments. Expertly prepared meals and delicious appetizers are mandatory, but donโ€™t shortchange your event on the dessert front. A caramel-laced heirloom apple pie will be the bow atop your winter-themed gathering, and a terrific way to conclude a hearty, creative holiday meal.

10 Reasons to Host a Holiday Party at Your Office

Birthday celebrations, sporting events, graduations, and, of course, holidays in these United States are widely acknowledged as being the most ideal and excusable periods of time in which to gorge oneself on indulgent foods the likes of which one is best advised to avoid under otherwise normal circumstances. And while birthdays are usually replete with punch and cake, gatherings predicated upon athletic contests (Super Bowl, NBA Finals, et cetera) with toppings-laden pizza and chicken wings (traditionally), and graduations with still more cake, the holiday season offers a sheer smorgasbord of rich, seasonally specific, indulgent baked goods and festive beverages.

In other words, it is a time in which to toss aside oneโ€™s sense of nutritional responsibility in order that the spirit of the season might not be slighted by dietary abstinence on what are to be the merriest of days. A promise of unfettered feeding is but one of the 10 reasons to host a holiday party at your office.

Okay, then–placing aside this fantastical thinking, there actually do exist a great many ways in which to enjoy holiday eating without forfeiting the health and fitness which provides for its bearer a far greater sense of fulfillment than could ever be equaled by a day (or month) of instantly regrettable binge-eating. When considering the below-listed 10 reasons to host a holiday party at your office, take inventory of all the responsible catering options at oneโ€™s disposal as they pertain to holiday party planning responsibilities; do right by guests, friends, and colleagues via providing wholesome foods which flavorfully align with the spirit of the season.

So long as the holiday season is upon us, why then should not the spirit of said season visit itself upon the professional spaces in which we are nominally most productive and in which a lionโ€™s share of our waking hours are spent? The very notion itself provides occasion to bond with oneโ€™s colleagues in that time-honored manner which historically served our ancestors with the utmost reliability: over food. While reflecting upon the above-articulated suggestions, consider also these

10 reasons to host a holiday party at your office

Office Party Planningย

  1. Camaraderieโ€”Barriers come crashing down during periods of festivity, particularly when the provided food is to everyoneโ€™s liking. Facilitate the easing of tensions over a choice spread of quality dishes.
  2. Varietyโ€”When encouraged to contribute a specialty of some sort, many an office worker or colleague will take it upon themselves to produce cuisine of particularly inventive nature. Expand oneโ€™s culinary horizons by prompting co-workers to do the same.
  3. Moraleโ€”The days and weeks which comprise a year can drag-on in seemingly endless fashion, and often demoralizingly so. When the holidays make their annual appearance, welcome them in uplifting style. Wholesome, autumnal/winter foods will go a long way towards achieving increased morale, particularly in the context of a holiday soirรฉe.
  4. Leadershipโ€”โ€œUneasy lies the head that wears a crownโ€ฆโ€ or so Henry IV is thought to have remarked. Bosses often find their responsibilities rather lonesome in nature, as leadership tends to be a somewhat isolating phenomenon. Welcome your own management into the communal fold by ensuring their invitation to an office holiday party. Wise catering choices might just lend themselves to talks of promotionโ€ฆfor those who donโ€™t mind a bit of uneasiness.
  5. Leftoversโ€”This one goes without saying, in truth. However, let us do the saying: provide generously day of, eat generously for days thereafter. Not all foods keep to an equal degree; though, with respect to those that do keep, holiday parties yield excellent dividends.
  6. Trial Runโ€”Holiday parties tend to precede their home front counterparts. Whatever culinary ambitions one might have been harboring since early-January may be trialed in the proving grounds of oneโ€™s office environment. Good work in the breakroom may well yield perfection in oneโ€™s dining room.
  7. Dietary Influenceโ€”Share with colleagues the flavors provided by oneโ€™s favorite healthy catering operation; as in, the flavors they might otherwise never experience on account of being stuck in the convenience food ruts inhabited by so many a busy professional.
  8. Unfamiliar Facesโ€”Holiday parties benefit greatly from the presence of so-called โ€œ+1โ€ guests. These are mostly spouses and significant others of oneโ€™s colleagues, many of whom are themselves familiar strangers. Appreciate the opportunity to revel in new company.
  9. Anecdotal Goldโ€”Even a comparatively tame party is bound to leave in its wake a narrative residue; each attendee belonging (to some degree or another) in some other attendeeโ€™s recounting of a notable tale. Enliven the office for months thereafter with the reliably unreliable telling of increasingly tall holiday party tales.
  10. Creative Gift Exchangesโ€”There are limits as to what co-workers are willing to spend on gifts for one another. With that in mind, invest a bit of time/energy in the engineering of an artful gift-swapping concept. One would do well to ready oneself for the inevitable appearance of homemade offerings, varying widely in terms of effort and material quality.
